An Unexpected Wisconsin Rock Hunt

On today's adventure, we were on our way home from a wedding in Minnesota when we decided to make an unexpected stop along a river in Western Wisconsin. Armed with nothing more than an iPhone and a desire to explore, we hit the riverbank in search of Wisconsin rocks. While we didn't find any agates this time, the river was loaded with colorful quartzite, jasper, chert, iron-rich stones, and other beautiful glacially transported rocks. Sometimes the best rockhounding trips aren't the ones you plan, they're the ones that happen on a whim. Join us as we explore a scenic Wisconsin river, search through countless stones, and see what treasures we can uncover along the way. Have you rockhounded Western Wisconsin?
