German police are investigating an international scheme in which Uzbek citizens were brought into Germany using fraudulently obtained Schengen visas and then provided with forged European documents. Seventy-six visas may be linked to the activities of the suspected criminal group. Ozodlik journalists investigated how this scheme could have worked, why Uzbeks choose Germany, where migrants work without documents, and what they face after being detained.
