National responses to global technologies
This session examined how nations can develop policies and laws that enable their citizens to benefit from global technologies without exposing them to undue risk. While borders are largely permeable to technologies reshaping the world, governments and jurisdictions must still find ways to protect their own communities. This challenge spans social networks, encrypted messaging platforms and large language models. Speakers included: Jhalak M. Kakkar, Executive Director of the Centre for Communication Governance at Delhi's National Law University, Udbhav Tiwari, Vice President for Strategy and Global Affairs at Signal, Wilson L. White, Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Google, and Andi Widjajanto, Senior Advisor at Laboratorium Indonesia 2045. The discussion was moderated by Sara Goldsworthy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Corro.
