Gustavo Ziller no Sempre Um Papo em Paracatu

Sponsored by Kinross, the Sempre um Papo Paracatu project held a meeting with mountaineer, entrepreneur, and writer Gustavo Ziller on Wednesday, April 22nd, at the René Lepesqueur Municipal Library. Ziller was launching his book "Escalando Sonhos – o que sinto no topo do mundo" (Climbing Dreams – What I Felt at the Top of the World). Admission was free. The event was organized by the Sempre um Papo Cultural Association, through the Rouanet Law, and with the support of the Northwest Minas Gerais Academy of Letters and the Municipality of Paracatu. The event is part of the 3rd season of Sempre um Papo in the city, consolidating a new stage of the project: more than literary encounters, experiences of listening, reflection, and sharing. In 2026, each edition will connect to the next, creating continuity and deepening – a program that transforms literature into lived experience. In Escalando Sonhos, Ziller draws on his experiences on some of the highest mountains on the planet to reflect on discipline, planning, risk, and purpose. The narrative transcends the adventure story and establishes itself as an investigation into human limits—both physical and emotional—proposing parallels between climbing and the everyday challenges of life. Ziller's presence reinforces the curatorial focus of this season in Paracatu: affection, empathy, memory, and hope as concrete paths of encounter between author and audience. Here, literature ceases to be merely a theme and begins to operate as a shared experience—a territory where thought and sensitivity intersect. Held in a city that is consolidating itself as a cultural and literary hub, the project reaffirms its mission to cultivate readers, bring people together, and build lasting spaces for interaction through words. Since its creation, Sempre um Papo has held thousands of meetings in Brazil and abroad, bringing together authors and audiences around books and qualified debate. The 2026 program continues in dialogue with Fliparacatu – the Paracatu International Literary Festival, which will take place between August 26 and 30, expanding the reach of cultural activities in the city. The theme will be “Being So Within Us – Life in Transit,” commemorating the 70th anniversary of the publication of “Grande Sertão: Veredas” and the 130th anniversary of the death of Afonso Arinos, author of “Pelo Sertão.” History in Paracatu The 2026 cycle began with psychologist and writer Alexandre Coimbra Amaral, who launched “Caring for Solitude Until It Becomes an Encounter,” followed by Renato Noguera, deepening the reflection on human experience and meaning. Since 2023, Sempre um Papo Paracatu has brought together relevant names in literature, education, and the arts of the word. Authors such as Denise Fraga, Socorro Acioli, and Itamar Vieira Junior, as well as thinkers like Tião Rocha and Nurit Bensusan, have already visited the city. The project also values ​​local production and expands the dialogue with new languages, reaffirming Paracatu not only as a stage but as an origin of thought.
