Far Cry 4 Part 4: “You eat, or you are eaten. Animals call it survival. Humans call it business.”

Mostly did side quests in this one. Unlike Far Cry 3 the side quests in this game are much more fleshed out. My favorite of these are the ones for Longinus. There’s a theory that Longinus is Prosper Kouassi from Far Cry 2. This is based on some, in my opinion, pretty strong evidence like the fact that his quests have Ajay recovering diamonds which were the main currency in that game. The first of these quests making Ajay track down these diamonds using a tracker the beeps faster the closer he is to the diamonds and produces a solid light when facing them is a direct reference to how the player character in Far Cry 2 had to find the diamonds in the open world. Longinus also makes a reference to being shot in the head and being baptised in Goka Falls, a location in Far Cry 2. One of the 2 paths in Far Cry 2 actually has Kouassi be “killed” in this same area. If the theory is true then it’s possible that canonically in Far Cry 2 after Kouassi betrayed the player character he was shot in the head and his body fell into the river of Goka Falls. It was after that Longinus was born, having found or grown a stronger connection to the Christian God. In either case, it’s more or less Longinus was a warlord of some kind in the unnamed African country that Far Cry 2 took place in and he’s now attempting to redeem himself by hiring Ajay to recover the diamonds (his “sins”) that he ruined and took many a life for. All of this while providing the Golden Path and Ajay weapons to fight Pagan Min’s government. Also I’m not sure how when I first played this game years ago I missed how absolutely unhinged Rabi Ray Rana’s radio broadcasts can be. I’m not sure in which of these videos I do this but I’ve literally looked down at the radio in this game and sometimes stopped driving just to listen to what he’s saying, especially that segment where he talks about what his serial killer calling card would be.
