The Noble Train of Artillery
On this date, December 10, 1775, Henry Knox reached the south end of Lake George with the first load of artillery from Fort Ticonderoga. Henry Knox began his day next to a warm fire, set by the crews of two of the vessels. In his journal, Knox wrote "about half an hour before day break that is about a quarter After six we sat out and in six hours & a quarter of excessive hard pulling against a fresh head breeze we reach'd Fort George." Knox awaited news of the third vessel, the 'scow,' that had run aground down the lake. As we pass another historic milestone in the Noble Train of Artillery, we want to thank the many participants and visitors who made our Noble Train Begins REAL TIME REVOLUTION® Signature Reenactment weekend such a success!
