Dragonkin: The Banished is a new action RPG with dragons, deep build systems, a long campaign, city progression, and some surprisingly strong ideas - but is it actually worth playing? After spending around 26 hours with Dragonkin, mostly through the campaign and into the early endgame, I’m breaking down what works, what doesn’t, and who this game is really for. We’ll look at the combat, boss fights, world design, Dragonkin’s complex ancestral grid system, the city progression, crafting, endgame maps, and how it compares to games like Diablo 4, Path of Exile 2, Last Epoch, and Grim Dawn. Dragonkin has some excellent dragon boss fights, beautiful environments, satisfying RPG progression, and a lot of systems to dig into. But it also has some frustrating quests, uneven voice acting, heavy backtracking, overwhelming build management, and an endgame that may not have the staying power of a live-service ARPG. So is Dragonkin: The Banished a hidden gem, or just another ARPG that falls short of Diablo? Let’s talk about it. If you’ve played Dragonkin, let me know what you think in the comments.
