Bioassessment of Species Diversity Using Field Techniques
Bioassessment can provide direct measures of the types of species inhabiting streams and rivers. Biological health is not always an obvious feature of the environment so practical field techniques are needed to assess the well-being of rivers. Aquatic insects and other invertebrates are the most common form of animal life in streams. The variety of species present are indicators of the health of the river.
