When a great flood was about to destroy the Earth, Lord Vishnu took the form of a fish. To save creation from this destruction, he chose King Satyavrata. He was the king of Dravida — kind-hearted and just. One day, as the king was worshipping Lord Vishnu like every day, he noticed a tiny fish. He brought the fish back to his palace. But the fish kept growing so rapidly that even the ocean became too small for it. Then Lord Vishnu revealed his divine form and warned the king about the coming flood. He instructed him to build a massive boat and gather all living beings inside it. During the great deluge, Lord Vishnu guided the boat safely through the waters and saved all life. There is also another story connected to this avatar. A demon named Hayagriva had stolen the Vedas. So Lord Vishnu descended into the depths of the ocean, fought the demon, and recovered the sacred Vedas. searching...
