On March 7, 2025, the section of National Route 1 between Hatasashi I.C. and Oshiro I.C. in Shimada City, including the Shin-Oigawa Bridge, will be widened to four lanes. Relieving morning and evening congestion on this section could potentially make commuting between the central and western parts of the prefecture possible without using the expressway! This is an important section. Although it's only a 4.3-km expansion, this improvement is likely to help shorten not only morning and evening travel times on national highways in the western part of the prefecture, but also travel times between Shizuoka and Nagoya.
