How I assemble a pocket watch, Waltham model 1857
I put together a pocket watch. I do some oiling also. I found out later that I do not need the shim under the balance cock. 18 size, 15 jewels, gilded, full plate, American Watch Co., Waltham Watch Co., key wind, key set. I think this watch was made in 1875. The mainspring on this watch is worn out, will have to replace it with one that is not as used. Hands are morning glory style. I think I oiled what had to be oiled. I used watch oil on the pivots with jewels and clock oil on everything else. Maybe I should have used grease for some items but I don't have any. I decided to upload it as one big file instead of cutting it into two parts. Only the diehards will sit through this. I mean really, who has 45 minutes to kill to watch this. You may remember this watch from 'How I take apart a pocket watch, Waltham model 1857' now playing. This video performed by an amateur. Do not attempt at home. No watches were harmed in the making of this video. For entertainment only.
