Deviant's Lock Advice - Part 03 - My Deadbolt the Past Two Decades
I grew up back east, spending much of my time hard against the Atlantic seaboard for much of my youth. I have slowly moved westward for much of my life... going from West Philadelphia to Western Montana to West Seattle. (The joke we tell is that I'm doing the Forrest Gump thing... and that I'll hit the ocean and turn around. Except that is unlikely, since the Pacific Northwest is the greatest place I've ever lived, hah!) In any case, on basically every house I've ever occupied, I have changed the locks. In Philadelphia, when I built a storage box for the front porch that delivery folk could use to secure packages... https://deviating.net/photos/main.php... ...I equipped the box with Abus 83/45 padlocks which you saw in the last video and those padlocks matched the Schlage deadbolt on the door. As I have moved over the years, I have used these Schlage B560 deadbolts on my doors (typically equipping them with Schlage Primus cores) and have never been disappointed. The ease of installing them, servicing them, replacing the KIK cylinders whenever I wanted... this is what makes me happy and comfortable with the design. I don't have time to dedicate many hours in the day to projects like this, as a professional locksmith could. I need something that is robust and just works. (We do not sell locks at CORE or RTA... if you're interested in Schlage deadbolts or Primus cores, you'll have to call around to local ALOA certified locksmiths as you seek out a local dealer!) -- ----- ---------- this is my personal web site. most things i create wind up online... https://deviating.net this is my company. we're good at stuff... https://enterthecore.net this is where i train. come and learn badass skills... https://redteamalliance.com -- ----- ---------- Andy Tait, the creator of the PCB version of my Devious Decoder Card, is here on YouTube... / therasteri
