Is it better to plant chili peppers with more spacing? The results of a 20cm high-density planting experiment surprised everyone. In this video, we introduce the results of an actual chili pepper cultivation experiment conducted using a 20cm high-density planting method. We planted 4,000 plants across approximately 400 pyeong (about 1,320 square meters) to examine in detail growth conditions, initial yield, ventilation, disease management, and yield per unit area, as well as profitability. Many farmers believe that planting chili peppers with more spacing is the correct approach, but depending on the variety, high-density planting can actually yield higher harvests and profits. This holds the potential to be a new cultivation strategy, particularly for early-maturing, upright varieties with few side shoots and good fruit setting at the top.
