September 16, 1987. Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina. At the iconic branch number 2 of Banco Popular Financiero, employees were beginning to arrive to start their workday. Around 7:00 a.m., a familiar face appeared at the door: Corporal Miguel Ángel Salinas, who months earlier had been working extra hours at the bank. Francisco "Pancho" Nievas entered with him. The employees, trusting them because they considered Salinas "a friend," let them in, unaware that they were about to become victims of the most brutal massacre to occur in Argentina in the last half-century.
