This Italian Violin LOOKS Great… But Sounds Terrible 😱
This October I’ll be traveling to California (Oct 2–8, 2025). If you’d like to meet me in person, have your instrument checked, or try out some of my latest violins, violas, and cellos, you can book your private appointment here: https://calendly.com/soundofcremona/m... 🎻 Today’s video I share with you a violin I recently found in the shop of a colleague here in Cremona – an Italian violin made in the 80s by Bruno Donà. It has character and shows commitment in the making… but the sad truth is: this violin sounds very weak. Why? In the 70s and 80s, many Italian violin makers focused on the wrong details, and they didn’t have easy access to all the acoustic research we have today. That’s why so many instruments from that era look beautiful but don’t satisfy our sound expectations. In this video, I analyze the problems of this instrument, explain why it doesn’t sound, and share my vision: I want to take this violin and modify it to unlock its full potential. Many people are afraid to touch such instruments out of “respect” for the original makers– but for me, an instrument which doesn’t "sing", it deserves to be brought back to life. 👉 Do you think violins should be left untouched, or do they deserve a second chance? Let me know in the comment section. Meanwhile all the best from Cremona Edgar Searching for the right Violin🎻, Viola🎻, Cello🎻 or Doublebass🎻 ?
