What goes into a Moss Jaguar E-Type restoration?
Recently, we had the absolute pleasure of handing the keys over of our latest complete restoration build - a 1962 Series 1 3.8 roadster. This long-term family cherished OTS was delivered to us with "driving in mind" as the brief, but to retain as much of its originality as possible. The client specified that the original hood be repaired and refitted along with the interior consoles, and the 3.8 seats where his father once sat were a non-negotiable aspect. Subtle upgrades however were a necessity to compete with today's modern driving so an upgraded alternator was fitted whilst the car was set to negative earth. Not to mention a brand new set of bellissimo, handmade in Italy Borrani wheels which was high on the custodian's spec sheet. The most remarkable part of this particular build was that the shell came back to our workshop a mere 5 months prior to the finished article you see before you. An important family wedding was set in stone for the end of June and the drophead simply had to be there, so it took 2 if not 3 technicians everyday solid for 5 months to get it across the line in time, proving this really was a labour for love. The custodian has also kindly granted us permission to share his first reactions upon seeing the car, which is part of the second half of this film. #mossjaguar #jaguaretype #etypejaguar #preservation #classicjaguar
