This mini-album was released on the Victor/Endorphin label in 1992 to commemorate her major label debut. This album features CMJK, Jun Shimoyama, Yuji Sugiyama, Neko Saito, Makoto Otsu, and Ken Isogai. The album includes two cover songs, Mary Hopkin's “Those Were the Days” and Jane Birkin's “Quoi,” the latter of which is dedicated to Serge Gainsbourg. The opening track, “HARDLY EVER SMILE(without you),” is an ambient-acoustic, self-remake version of a song from a mini-album released on their own label, Psycho Planet, in 1991. The song has been reevaluated mainly in the U.S., and she toured the U.S. last year (2024). The unit's name comes from the 1987 album “The Poison Boyfriend” by Momus, who would later produce their album “Shyness”. 日本のテクノ・パイオニアと評されたアーティストnOrikOのソロユニット、POiSON GiRL FRiENDによる国産アンビエント・テクノ/トリップホップの金字塔的作品。1992年にビクター/エンドルフィン・レーベルから発表したメジャー・デビュー記念のミニ・アルバム。 CMJK、下山淳、杉山 勇司、斎藤ネコ、大津真、磯貝健といった豪華面々が参加。メリー・ホプキンの「THOSE WERE THE DAYS」、ジェーン・バーキン「QUOI」とカバー2曲を収録しており、後者はセルジュ・ゲンスブールに捧げられたものとなっている。オープニングの「HARDLY EVER SMILE (without you)」は、91年に自主レーベルの〈Psycho Planet〉からリリースしたミニ・アルバム収録曲のアンビエント・アコースティック風のセルフ・リメイク版。同曲がアメリカを中心に再評価され、昨年には全米ツアーを敢行。 ユニット名は、後に『Shyness』をプロデュースするMomusが1987年に発表した2ndアルバム『The Poison Boyfriend』に由来する。 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ●Profileプロフィール POiSON GiRL FRiEND is the solo project of “nOrikO”, whose sweet, languid French Lolita whisper voice has captivated many audiences. She spent her childhood in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and started DJing regularly at Paradiso in Roppongi and Giger Bar in Shirokanedai in 1990. She made her major label debut in 1992 with the album “MELTING MOMENT” on the Victor/Endorphin label. Lived in France from 2000 to 2004. After returning to Japan, she resumed live performances and DJ activities. In recent years, she has been expanding her activities globally, appearing on NTS radio in the U.K., releasing cassettes in the U.S., and collaborating with several international artists. POiSON GiRL FRiEND (ポイズン・ガール・フレンド) 甘くけだるいフレンチ・ロリータなウィスパーボイスで多くの聴衆を魅了してきた“nOrikO”のソロプロジェクト。幼少の頃を、ブラジルのリオ・デ・ジャネイロで過ごす。1990年六本木Paradiso、白金台Giger BarでレギュラーDJを開始。1992年、ビクターよりアルバム「MELTING MOMENT」でメジャー・デビュー。1990年代後半はテクノハウスユニット、Kiss-O-maticとしてフロアー向け作品をリリース。2000年から2004年まで、フランス在住。帰国後からライヴやDJ活動を再開。近年は、英国のNTSラジオ出演、アメリカでのカセットリリース、複数の海外アーティストとのコラボレーション制作等、活躍の場をグローバルに広げている。
