Edmontosaurus | The Last of the Dinosaurs | Dino Basics

During the Late Cretaceous, the dinosaurs were truly in their prime. Nowhere is this more obvious than one of the last of the hadrosaurs, the Edmontosaurus. While obviously its size set it apart from many earlier dinosaurs, smaller adaptations helped Edmontosaurus stand above many earlier hadrosaurs and herbivorous dinosaurs in general. With a wide mouth, powerful jaws, and efficient teeth, the Edmontosaurus made good use of that so-called "duckbill" when processing vegetation to sustain itself. But why put so much attention on such a somewhat plain looking dinosaur? Was this creature truly that complex or interesting? And what could this creature possibly tell us about the final days of the hadrosaurs and more importantly the dinosaurs? Let's find out!
