It's necessary to disassemble the hose that runs from the pump motor to the pump outlet connector, remove the electrical connectors, and clean all traces of dirt before replacing the parts. The heart of the fuel pump is the 12V motor; it is nominally designed to operate at 13.5VDC. The new motor comes with a new filter that is mounted on its base, and it is recommended to replace it every year to extend the life of the pump motor.
