Evgeny Lebedev will present the topic: "Jazz Improvisation on Piano and Beyond. Practical Techniques and Concepts for Solo Construction Using a Common Harmonic Progression." In this webinar, we will discuss: Analysis of form and harmony; Analysis of chords and modes. (Student improvisation using modes); How to practice modes? Triads; Chromatics and chanting; The importance of rhythmic clarity. The ability to play short, complete phrases with an emphasis on rhythm and groove. (Joint improvisation of 4 bars by teacher and student); Vertical thinking and alterations. The altered mode and its potential uses; The logic of solo construction. How to tell a "musical story." Limitation, phrase continuity, question-and-answer, musical fantasy; Fundamentals of solo piano playing; The importance of intuitive ensemble playing and letting go of the "burden" of knowledge during improvisation; Joint improvisation between teacher and student. Evgeny Lebedev is a pianist, teacher at the Jazz Academy, member of the LRK TRIO ensemble, member of the Moscow Union of Composers, and author of the video course "Fewer Notes, More Meaning." He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music (Boston), a prizewinner at the Montreux Piano Competition (Switzerland), the Made In New York Jazz Competition (USA), and a recipient of a special Billboard magazine award.
