Giant panda Aibao, who lives at Everland Panda World in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, has successfully given birth for the third time. Everland announced that Aibao gave birth to a female baby panda on the 3rd, stating that both the mother and baby are currently healthy. The baby panda was born weighing 171g to father Le Bao and mother Aibao. This birth marks the third instance of natural panda breeding in Korea, following Fu Bao in 2020 and the twins Rui Bao and Hui Bao in 2023. With this, Aibao and Le Bao now have a total of four female offspring. Aibao gave birth to the baby panda at 10:53 AM on the 3rd, just over two hours after labor began. Currently, Aibao and the baby panda are receiving 24-hour close care from zookeepers and veterinarians. An Everland official stated, "Panda World zookeepers, veterinarians, and professional zookeepers dispatched from the China Panda Protection and Research Center are doing their utmost to assist Aibao with her postpartum recovery and provide full support for childcare." The China Panda Protection and Research Center also revealed that this newborn is the first cub born this year to Chinese pandas living overseas, noting that "the cub's cries are vigorous and full of vitality," and that "Aibao, who has experience giving birth, immediately held the cub, licked it, and cared for it stably." Everland plans to review the timing of a public unveiling while observing the newborn panda as it learns to walk on its own, builds immunity, and adapts to the external environment. Until the public unveiling, the park intends to share the baby panda's growth diary and the panda family's daily life through official social media channels, such as YouTube. The three cubs born earlier, including Fu Bao, were first unveiled to the general public five to six months after birth. Fu Bao, who gained popularity in Korea, moved to the Wolong Shenshuping Panda Base in Sichuan Province, China, in April 2024 and is currently living there, while Rui Bao and Hui Bao are also preparing for their return to China this winter.
