Some say he was a good man, some say he was a prophet, still others hate him. He is one of the most documented historical figures of all antiquity. What really matters is what God's Holy Word says about him. The Bible makes it clear that Jesus is more than just a man or prophet. Jesus is God in the flesh, and he dwelt among us over 2000 years ago. He lived a sinless life because of his Divine nature and the reason he came was to reconcile sinful man back to God. Please understand that this messed up world and all its evil was not God's original plan. He wanted to dwell with His creation in peace and perfection, but he also gave us free will to choose right or wrong. Adam and Eve, the first human beings to walk the earth, chose to disobey God and so sin entered the world. Now from birth we have this sinful nature and many times we give into that nature and we do bad things. The Bible makes it clear that our evil thoughts and behavior, also called sin, leads to death and separation from a Holy God. The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 7:24-25 "What a wretched man I am, who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!" Jesus Christ was the rescue plan. John 3:16-18 says this: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." Jesus lived a perfect life, died on a cross, was buried and then rose to life again, defeating death and the grave. You may wonder why did He have to die? The Bible tells us that without the shedding of blood there is no remission (forgiveness) for sin. Only a perfect Savior could pay the ultimate price for our mistakes. No matter how many "good things" we try to do, only Jesus can save us from our sin. What powerful love God has shown us by giving us His one and only Son to die for our wrong choices. We all have to decide who Jesus is in our lives. Is He your Savior and Lord? If not, you can start a fresh relationship with Him today. Believe and put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and upon His death and resurrection. Repent and confess your sin, ask Him to wash you clean from your sinful choices. Start to walk with Him and learn from His Holy Word the Bible. Ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit to give you victory over sinful behavior. This will take time, and there is a process of sanctification as you grow in your relationship with Jesus. Pray that He would help you find a strong Bible believing church. Get connected with other strong Christians so you can all grow together in your faith journey. With faith in Jesus Christ, we will be with him for eternity. Without Jesus the Bible tells us we will be separated from him in a place called hell.
