The healing of Peter's mother-in-law, who immediately sets out to serve the household, in the Gospel of Mark foreshadows the Resurrection. Like Jesus, we die and rise again to serve. From this perspective, the Gospel shows Jesus welcoming crowds to the threshold of that same house—not coincidentally, the home of the first disciples, where the healing occurred. "Standing on the threshold," then, seems to be the place Jesus chooses for himself and his disciples. But there's more.
