Peel Island - Life in a Lazaret. 2004.
Introduction to the historical site of the Peel Island Lazaret. In operation between 1907 and 1959, the medical compound housed over 500 patients of Hansen's disease, or leprosy, who were forcibly removed from their families and placed in isolation in this island of Moreton Bay. Created in 2004 by the Queensland Government - Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and the Environmental Protection Agency. Historic footage kindly donated by Mrs Doris Gabriel and Miss Ruth Gabriel.
