Rash Behari Bose - A Revolutionary Life in Exile

Rash Behari Bose was born on 25 May 1886 in Bengal. He grew up inspired by the nationalist movement and became a revolutionary. In 1912, he took part in the Delhi Conspiracy Case, where a bomb was thrown at the Viceroy of India, Lord Hardinge. He later helped organize the Ghadar Conspiracy of 1915, an attempt at an armed revolt against British rule. After the plan failed, he escaped to Japan in 1915, where he found refuge and support. He married a Japanese woman named Toshiko and settled there permanently. During World War II, he united Indian revolutionaries in East Asia and founded the Indian National Army (INA). Later, he handed over its leadership to Subhas Chandra Bose, who expanded it further. Rash Behari Bose spent the rest of his life in Japan, working for India’s freedom. He died on 21 January 1945 in Tokyo.
