Buffer zone remains key part of Forces role in Cyprus 12.10.11
Soldiers from the UK regularly patrol and maintain the status quo in the Buffer Zone of Nicosia. Overlooked by Greek national guards and Turkish Forces it used to be the heart of the city, but July 20th, 1974 changed that. Now, under British control the responsibility changes every 6 months. Last week saw 23 Regiment take over from 3 Royal Anglian.
