Neal Hefti: 'The Odd Couple Theme' (vocal) - The Odd Couple OST
'The Odd Couple' is a play by Neil Simon, following its premiere on Broadway in 1965, the characters were revived in a successful 1968 film and 1970s television series, as well as other derivative works and spin-offs. The plot concerns two mismatched roommates: the neat, uptight Felix Ungar and the slovenly, easy-going Oscar Madison. 'The Odd Couple' was adapted by Simon himself as a 1968 film starring Walter Matthau as Oscar and Jack Lemmon as Felix. Gene Saks, who directed the stage version, also directed the film—which is very faithful to the play script, though occasionally expanded to include street scenes in New York City. The soundtrack was composed, arranged and conducted by Neal Hefti, with theme lyrics by Sammy Cahn. Nefti (October 29, 1922 – October 11, 2008) was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, songwriter, and arranger.
