All are arduous, all break the resistance of the ego. But the "path of love," as indicated by Muhyiddin Arabi, is an essence that encompasses all these paths. Because love does not deceive the mind; it directly burns the heart. And when the heart burns, distance disappears. The path of love leads to the "center." The center is Truth itself. The veil between the servant and the Truth is lifted not by fear, but by love. Mountains, valleys, deserts; these are obstacles in the eyes of the ego. But for the lover, direction is not lost. Because the lover does not seek a path; he becomes the path. In love, there is no distance, only direction, and that direction is always to the center. This is why it is said, "Love is fire." Fire does not consume what is false. It burns false selves, temporary identities, and personalities woven with fear. What turns to ashes is not nothingness; it is the disintegration of what is not real. When ashes remain, the essence is revealed. In Sufism, this is called "fana": the burning of the self, its dissolution in the Truth. One who walks the path of love does not call what befalls him a test. Because he knows that if fire burns, it purifies. For the servant who walks with love, both mountains and valleys are blessings. Obstacles are not the outside of the path; they are the path itself. Muhyiddin Arabi's words whisper this to us: One who wants to reach the truth should not count many paths; he should look into his heart. If there is love in the heart, the path is short.
