Two Women in Their 70s Running a Sugarcane Shop | Life in Vietnam This morning started with a peaceful walk around my neighborhood in Vietnam. Children were swimming, families were enjoying the cooler weather, and local coffee shops were already busy. As I continued walking through the streets, I came across something unexpected. A small sugarcane shop run by two women in their seventies. Using a homemade peeling machine and a simple but efficient workflow, they process around 144 sugarcane stalks every day. Some of the sugarcane is turned into fresh juice, while the rest is supplied to other vendors in the area. I also met street vendors, construction workers repairing public infrastructure, and lottery ticket sellers working under the hot sun. These everyday moments may seem ordinary, but together they tell the story of life in Vietnam.
