Sheepskin Drum Dance is widely spread in Yi villages in Chuxiong, Yunnan. It is a folk ritual song and dance activity that uses sheepskin drums as the basic props. Its forms mainly include two types: one is to dance around the coffin only during funerals, and not dance at all during other times; the other is to perform ritual dances to worship gods and pray for blessings during major Yi festivals and ceremonies.
