"You went from film to opera?" All art forms share two common characteristics. One is that they contain a story, and the other is that they possess a sense of rhythm, much like our heartbeat. I believe the common attribute of all art is the ability to rhythmically guide one's own medium—sometimes slowing down, sometimes speeding up—depending on the medium that conveys the desired story.
