Growing Together: Hazel Wynters part 61

GENERATION TWO: MILO MUNCH Hazel Wynters is single & pregnant. She & the baby's athlete father (Reggie Willis) recently broke up. They were engaged after Hazel proposed marriage (it took a couple tries for Reggie to say yes). However, he freaked out after Hazel revealed she was pregnant, saying a baby was too much responsibility for him, & he wasn't ready to be married after all, & needed space away from her. Heartbroken, Hazel made the only decision she thought possible: she ended her relationship with Reggie, & he moved away to Windenburg. The breakup is very hard for Hazel because she's always wanted to get married & have a big family with lots of kids. The main reason for this is her own childhood. Her mother abandoned her & her father (Willie) when Hazel was just a baby, leaving her father to raise her on his own. Willie worked from home as a freelance writer, devoting his life to raising his beloved daughter. He put all of his efforts & love into Hazel, & as a result, he never became successful as a writer, & never remarried. He & Hazel are incredibly close as Willie is all she had growing up. Hazel wants more for her adult self. She wants to create her own big family with the right person, not someone who will run away when things get hard or scary. Scraping together what little money she has, Hazel buys a small house in San Sequoia, a great town for raising a family. Despite being a single mother, she has not given up her dream of getting married & raising a family. Willie is unable to help her with the buying of the house or bills but vows to help with his grandchild once it's born. He just about manages to afford his own home in the same town as his daughter so he can be close by. Hazel has no idea what she wants to do career-wise, but she knows she wants to be home for her baby, the way that her father was home for her growing up. She takes a job as a barista but soon finds it's not enough to raise her child on. Single & pregnant & on her own for the first time, Hazel awaits the birth of her child, knowing she will love him/her more than anything, & will do anything to give him/her the best of everything possible, just like her father did. She's still in love with her noncommittal ex, but she's ready to focus on her baby & her future.
