【冬の散歩】凍えるイタグレ vs 痩せたい飼い主。これはもはや「修行」です!

Week 116 with my Italian Greyhound, Nia. In this episode, we rediscover the hidden gems of Fuchu, Tokyo, on a combined walk and lunch adventure! 🐾 One moment Nia is having a blast in a "bed of fallen leaves" at Fuchu-no-Mori Park; the next, she’s shivering from the cold and begging to be carried every ten minutes. Is this a relaxing walk or a test of endurance? 😂 ◇◇◇ Video Chapters ◇◇◇ 00:10 A Walk or an Ordeal? It has already been 116 weeks since I started my life with Nia, my beloved Italian Greyhound (Iggy). In today’s video, we documented a day spent enjoying the Fuchu area while fighting off (or nearly surrendering to) the winter chill. ✨ 🍂 The "Training" Begins at Fuchu-no-Mori Park!? Our first stop was the expansive Fuchu-no-Mori Park, a beautiful space built on the site of the former Fuchu Air Base. With its magnificent 300-meter promenade and traditional Japanese garden, it’s the perfect spot to experience Japan's changing seasons. While there, we found a massive pile of fallen leaves—what I like to call a "Leafy Bed"! 🍁 Nia and I had a great time jumping around in them. That soft, fluffy texture is enough to get even an adult excited! However, Nia’s true feelings started to show... When she walks with my daughter, she’s all smiles and energy. But the moment it’s just the two of us, her pace suddenly drops (LOL). Since our walks tend to be longer in both distance and time, I think she sees our outings less as a "fun stroll" and more as a "grueling training camp" for her fitness. 😅 By the pond, we encountered a breathtaking sight: vibrant autumn leaves floating on the water despite it being mid-winter. It felt like a dream where autumn had forgotten to leave. 🦆 On a less magical note, both Nia and I panicked when we saw a plant on the ground that looked exactly like a giant caterpillar! You have to see Nia’s reaction—she literally jumped about a meter into the air. 🍽 Does Hotel Lunch Taste Like "Austerity"? After working up an appetite, I met my brother and sister for a meal. We headed to Tohoku Bokujo, a restaurant inside Hotel Continental Fuchu that allows dogs. I was drawn to their wonderful philosophy of using "completely pesticide-free vegetables" and their commitment to sustainability. However, things didn't go quite as planned... When I heard "terrace seating," I had imagined a stunning view from the hotel's top floor. In reality, it was on the ground floor, right next to a busy street! 🚌 With the constant roar of buses and motorbikes, Nia went into full "guard dog" mode. Our relaxing lunch quickly turned into a "stay quiet and calm" training session using her carrier bag and travel bed. The food itself was exquisite, featuring fresh ingredients from their direct farm in Aomori Prefecture. It reminded me of the importance of savoring every bite, even amidst the chaos. 🐾 The Mystery Hidden in a Dog’s Paw Now that the New Year holidays are over, the cold has become even more intense. For an Italian Greyhound, a breed originating from the warm Mediterranean, the Japanese winter is incredibly harsh. During our walks, Nia makes eye contact every ten minutes, silently pleading, "Please, just pick me up..." My previous dog, a Jack Russell Terrier, was quite hardy in the cold, so seeing Nia shiver makes me constantly worried about frostbite. This prompted me to look into the science of "dog foot anatomy" from a professional perspective. Did you know that a dog’s paw pads have a unique vascular structure called Arteriovenous Anastomosis (AVA)? 🧊 This specialized system allows blood to flow directly from the arteries to the veins before it gets too cold, helping to maintain body temperature and prevent frostbite even when touching frozen ground. It’s the same mechanism found in penguin wings and bird beaks! It’s fascinating to think about the evolutionary romance in Nia’s biological roots. Of course, science aside, Nia’s stance remains: "Cold is cold!" While she helps me out with my "weight loss event" (aka my diet), I’ll make sure to keep her bundled up so we can survive the rest of winter together! Thank you so much for watching until the end. If your dog also begs to be carried during walks, please let me know in the comments! 💬 📣 Subscribe & Support If you enjoyed this video, found Nia adorable, or learned something new about Italian Greyhound anatomy, please Subscribe and give us a Thumbs Up (Like)! 👍 Your support is the fuel that keeps Nia and me walking! 🔔 Don’t forget to turn on the Bell Icon so you never miss an update! 🐾 Hashtags 🐾 #ItalianGreyhound #Iggy #NiaTheIggy #LifeWithDogs #DogVlog #PetVlog #DailyVlog #DogYouTube #IggyWalks #FuchuNoMoriPark #TohokuBokujo #DogFriendlyLunch #DogWalk #IggyLife #ColdSensitiveDog #PawPadSecrets #FuchuGourmet ◆ Gear: iPhone 15 Pro, GoPro HERO 13 ◆ Editing: DaVinci Resolve, Affinity Photo
