Uyir Mei [உயிர் மெய்] | Short Film | Released by 'RIT Film International' Story : The story of this film is about a victim of Marital Rape. A woman of 29 years, dislikes the institution of marriage due to the trauma endured in her past. But, irrespective of her personal reservations, she yields to her mother’s wishes and enters into a marriage relationship. However, prior to the marriage, she does raise her concerns with her fiance, who does at the time, seem to understand and agree with her that they will partake in conjugal relations only with mutual understanding and consent. Unfortunately, to her utter shock and dismay, post marriage, her husband behaves in a total patriarchal manner, and ends up raping her without her explicit consent; an act carried out with absolute disregard for her personal dignity and self-respect. Being an independent, self-reliant woman, she immediately ends the relationship and goes back to her mother. A few weeks later, she is horrified to realize that she has conceived from that single instance of consummation.
