European Health Data Space: The i2X explained in RTP Madeira

In early 2025, the European Commission approved i2X, an €8 million project to implement the International Patient Summary Format for Electronic Health Record exchange - an important and unprecedented step towards realizing the European Health Data Space. Over 4 years, until 2029, the project will test the secure sharing of health data across hospitals in several EU countries, including SESARAM, in 5 areas: patient clinical summary, electronic prescription, lab tests and exams, medical imaging, and discharge reports. During a visit to Madeira, Diogo Martins, project manager at UpHill, explained the project's objectives and current status.
