We will be using the A major scale because it has a lot of open strings. This is the process I use to find these chord shapes 1. Choose the root note (in this case the A open string) 2. Choose a narrow area of the fretboard and pick a note from the A major scale. 3. Add other notes in different strings, but in the same area of the fretboard. 4. Ask yourself if you like the sound of the chord. If it does, find the intervals in relation to the root note. 5. Think about how that chord makes you feel and memorize the shape. 6. Move the chord shape to next group of diatonic notes to build another chord.
