Every day, tons of waste arrive there, and dozens of people – including families and children – search the piles for recyclable items in order to survive. Some grow up here from the age of zero, amidst the smoke, the smell and the danger. In this video, I walk from the old station in Zone 1 along 18th Street, through Zone 3 – a red zone known for being dangerous – to the central cemetery, from which there is a view of one of the most difficult and moving places I have ever seen.
