Cotswold Way Walks | Leckhampton Loop
The Cotswold Way Trail is a 102 mile walk from end to end and you'll need to take 4 to 8 days if you wanted to complete it. We are highlighting 8 walking loops around the trail so you don't have to walk the whole trail. You'll see what what we have discovered and hopefully learn about these areas within the Cotswolds. So please come and join us in our rather small adventure. Our first walk is the Leckhampton Loop which is just south of Cheltenham. This is a link to the map we used to navigate this particularly walk. (https://www.cotswoldsaonb.org.uk/wp-c...) The route starts close to the Seven Springs Pub and follows the Cotswold Way along a flat pathway before it climbs uphill through meadows and limestone grassland, part of the Leckhampton Hill and Charlton Kings Common nature reserve. The path runs on through the remains of an old Iron Age hill fort before emerging at the top of Leckhampton Hill, with amazing views of Cheltenham and out as far as Wales. Carry on along the path – though it’s worth making a short diversion to the right to see the rock tower known as the Devil’s Chimney – before turning off and heading downhill through the woods. Once you reach the remains of an old lime quarry, take the long, straight path downhill to Daisybank Road and follow the road to the right past some spectacular houses. Eventually the road turns into a track and joins back onto the Cotswold Way, where you retrace your footsteps for the final stretch back to the Seven Springs pub where you can call in for a drink. #Gloucestershire #Cotswolds #Cheltenham #Leckhampton #Walking Distance/time: 4.5 miles/2 hours 45 minutes Difficulty: Easy, some moderately steep sections Start/finish point: Seven Springs pub Parking: Lay by next to Seven Springs pub Public transport: 51 bus from Cheltenham to Cirencester, alight at the Seven Springs stop
