This is the story of the most beautiful and brutal trek of my life. I journeyed to the stunning Durinar Lakes 1 & 2 and then onwards to the majestic Barafsar Lake, the highest alpine lake in all of Kashmir. The ascent was a dream: epic mountain vistas, lush green meadows, crystal-clear river streams, and massive glaciers. Reaching the iconic Barafsar Lake was a pinnacle moment... until it turned into a fight for survival. A sudden and violent snowstorm forced us into a rapid descent. But the real challenge began when we thought we were safe. Just minutes after reaching Durinar 1, a single misstep changed everything. I slipped, lost control in a terrifying sprint, and crashed onto a rock, injuring myself badly. Completely unable to walk and miles from the nearest help, this is the raw story of perseverance, pain, and the incredible struggle to make it back to base against all odds.
