Refuge in the Heartland: Refugee Resettlement Documentary
“Refuge in the Heartland,” shares the experiences of refugee students, families, educators, resettlement agencies, policy makers, and community partners in an effort to assist people around the world in their work with refugee children and their families. Some of the topics include acculturation, developing school curriculum, overcoming trauma, partnering with communities, policy, and language acquisition for culturally and linguistically diverse students. The goal of the project is to educate all who work with refugee students and their families in order to reduce the uncertainty educators may feel and provide a better educational experience for refugee students.
