Roundhouse Bertie hauls Coal and Slate
Here Bertie hauls coal and slate wagons on home ground at the Summerlands Light Railway. It was lucky that just as I finished adding a little weathering to the Swift Sixteen guard's van and coal wagons, the sun came out and I was able to make this little film. Bertie, which featured in my Beginners' Guides series, has single channel radio and really prefers a heavier load for really slow running. Incidentally, the guard's van comes with a closed door, but I decided to open it by scoring with the back of a scalpel. The slate wagons were scratch built by the late Michael Woodward. Oh yes, and halfway through filming you will see that one Busybody had to remind old Tom that he had forgotten to move the loco lamp...!
