We found it a really relaxing mix of seaside charm, wine country, national parks and greenery... and even better than that? From Melbourne CBD it’s only an hours drive. We spent a few days exploring and found there were some incredible wineries, Alba Hot Springs was a highlight, Portsea town was a charmer, DOC Pizza was delicious and the coffee was great everywhere. The BEST HIGHLIGHT of all was staying at Jackalope - this is pure luxury accommodation and the attention to detail, level of service and onsite amenities was world class. 2 restaurants, a cocktail bar, cookie making classes, tours through the vines, unbeatable views, a pool, spa, sauna, restaurant quality in room dining, nightly popcorn delivered for movie nights... we could have stayed for a week and been happy.
