Amending CLAY SOIL to grow root vegetables (START to FINISH)
We recently harvested multiple varieties of root vegetables in January in our North Texas garden. Our soil is naturally hard, red clay, so we've had to amend it over the years to have a chance to grow good root vegetables. In this video, we grow six different vegetables - green radishes, French Dressing radishes, beets, Daikon radishes, red carrots, and kohlrabi. (While kohlrabi is not a root vegetable, it grows about the same and at the same time of year as root vegetables). Hopefully this video will give you some ideas for amending your clay soil to get a more productive harvest.
