We didn’t come to Brunei with high expectations. We booked this trip because we found a good flight deal and wanted to add another Southeast Asian country to our list. We were even told there wasn’t much to do in Brunei, so we didn’t plan much at all. But after spending just one full day here, Brunei completely surprised us. In this video, we take you along as we explore Brunei in one day, from visiting the Gadong Night Market, walking around the city center, and taking an unexpectedly affordable boat tour to Kampong Ayer, the world’s largest floating village. We also spent time at a quiet park near the Brunei frame, enjoyed the views, and finally tried ambuyat, Brunei’s most famous traditional dish. We also share a nerve-wracking immigration experience that changed our original plans and explains why we only stayed one night. A reminder that travel doesn’t always go as expected. This trip taught us an important lesson: even if people say there’s “not much to do,” you won’t really know a place until you experience it for yourself.
