Bishop J Wyn Evans, was both Dean and Bishop of St Davids. His lucid description of the magnificent 12th Century Cathedral of St David belies his considerable architectural and historical erudition. Under his stewardship substantial works were carried out: the restored St Mary's College became a refectory; the mediaeval cloisters were restored and modernised, the Cathedral Organ re-built, and the Shrine of St David re-created and restored. He explains why and how this glorious building became to be situated in a remote hidden valley in West Wales.
