Your First Jazz Improv Lesson
I've had a ton of requests to make a video for those new to improvisation, so I thought I'd tackle what a first improvisation lesson would look like if you were one of my students. The blues is one of the fundamental building blocks of jazz, and along the way in this video, I give general tips on the best ways I know how to practice improvisation. Trust me, I struggled early on to know what to practice, given how many different aspects there are to this art form, from harmony, to swing, to articulations, style, etc. This video helps to provide a framework that you can build on as you move forward in your new improvisational journey. Wishing you love and music - Tito My latest album URBANESSENCE is out on all streaming platforms! Head over to my Bandcamp page to listen to the tracks from the album, and purchase a digital download or a physical CD unit, or do all three! I've recently uploaded my previous album Opening Statement there as well, so be sure to check that one out as well! titocarrillo.bandcamp.com Tito Carrillo is professor of jazz trumpet at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign: https://music.illinois.edu/faculty/ti...
