🎶 Appalachian Dancing FINALE (the Stage could Barely Hold Us All)

Watch the stage ignite as a four-person dialogue of percussive dance builds into a powerful, full-ensemble finale. The CommonWealth Dance Collective welcomes our newest dancers to the stage as a surprising culmination that captures the spirit of traditional dance: community and unfiltered joy. ABOUT THE ROUTINE: Choreographed by Michigan Heritage Award recipient and CDC Director Sheila Graziano, Vlad’s uses a traditional "Rise and Shine" format to tell a story. The routine features a mix of choreographed and improvised solos that showcase the roots of our repertoire: Appalachian Clogging and Flatfooting, Irish and Sean-Nós, and Canadian Step Dance. By placing these styles side-by-side, Vlad’s highlights the intricate connections and unique rhythms of the percussive world. While named for the tune "Vladimir’s Steamboat," this versatile piece is designed to ignite any high-energy reel. PERFORMANCE: Choreographer: Sheila Graziano (featuring choreography by Sharon Leahy from "You Take It" in the duet) Musicians: Nate Jacobson and Sam Jacobson (fiddle), Sarah Vaujin (guitar) Backdrop: Emily A. Step Location: Michigan Celtic Festival 2025 ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE: Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the CommonWealth Dance Collective (CDC) is an ensemble dedicated to preserving and performing traditional percussive dance.
