Skiing New Zealand: the Syme Ridge, and the Central Rib on Elie
Visiting the high mountains of New Zealand in October 2024 with Ross Hewitt and Beau Fredlund. Contemplating risk, inspiration, patience, and timing. Highlighted by a ski descent of the Syme Ridge on Te Horokōau, Mt. Tasman, and a first descent of the Central Rib on the West Face of Mt. Elie de Beaumont. Ross and I have both been traveling to ski in the NZ mountains for over 20 years, so it was super fun to meet up there and share our excitement for adventure skiing and those wonderful mountains.
