Sen. Comerford offers opening remarks for the Senate's FY27 budget debate
On May 18, 2026, Senator Jo Comerford (D-Northampton) offered opening remarks as the Massachusetts State Senate began its debate of the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) budget proposal pending before the body. Senator Comerford spoke on the key funding in the proposal, along with the need to invest further in constituents and communities across the Commonwealth. She serves as the Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, the Committee that is responsible for drafting the Senate's budget proposal. The Senate will debate its budget proposal from May 19 through May 21.
