Bowlby suggests that all healthy babies will develop an attachment with their primary care giver according to his four stages. Based on this first attachment experience, a child will develop internal working models with which they can continue to build further attachments throughout life. Bowlby's four stages of attachment are: 1. Pre-attachment - from birth to 2 months 2. Attachment-in-the-making - from 2 months to 7 months 3. Clear Cut Attachment - from 7 months to 2 years 4.
